Groesbeck Honored with 1st Annual
STEWARD Grant
TEAM GROESBECK is pictured with an
enlarged check for the grant it received at the first annual STEWARD
Workshop. Pictured, left to right, are Brandi Thompson, Linda Collins,
Galen Beavers (chairman of the Workface Board), Jackie Levingston,
Martha Stanton, and Sharon Barnes. The Rural Economic Development Grant
award in the amount of $4995 was awarded at the first annual STEWARD
Workshop held in Waco on February 28 and 29. TEAM GROESBECK received the
highest score from the judges for both their grant proposal and team
presentation. This grant will fund custom designed banners on the new
light poles throughout the downtown area and in Hawkins Park.
Groesbeck’s community and economic development plan includes
beautification of the downtown business district, promotion of civic
pride, development of tourism, and building a flourishing downtown
business district. The grant monies will provide funding for Phase 4 of
the original community and economic development plan for the downtown
area. As the team put it, “ This will be icing on the cake!”

Ribbon Cutting for Bush’s Chicken:
The “Bush Chicken” is shown cutting
the ribbon on Monday, March 10, to officially welcome and open the
Bush’s Chicken in Groesbeck. The attractive, new facility is located on
the corner of North Ellis Street (highway 14) and West Angeline Street.
The ribbon cutting, which was conducted by the Groesbeck Chamber of
Commerce, was attended by Bush’s employees, friends, City of Groesbeck
officials and Chamber members and other business and community people.
