See How Cynthia Ann Might Have Lived

Take a step back in time as you visit Old Fort Parker and see the reconstructed cabins complete with furnishings from the period. These cabins will give you a good view of life in the 1830's. Sleeping on the flat, hard beds, stuffed with feathers and prairie hay, and cooking family meals in the huge fireplace were two very important acts in the struggle to survive on the American frontier. These cabins have been furnished by members of the Fort Parker Historical Society to replicate the furnishings when the Parker family lived here.

Also located at Old Fort Parker is the reconstructed Yell Cabin. This cabin was built by Reverand Mordecai Yell, an early area settler. It is believed to have been built from the original timbers of the original fort.

Christmas at the Fort

Shrouded in the early morning mist, Old Ft. Parker sits quietly awaiting the crowds who will arrive later in the day for the annual "Christmas at the Fort" festival. On the second weeked of December each year, hundreds of reenactors, vendors, and craftsmen gather for the annual event to relive Christmas on the frontier in the middle 1800's in Texas.
These vendors gather to compare some of their wares and visit at the annual "Christmas at the Fort."
Many of those who come to Christmas at the Fort bring their own teepees and spend the entire weekend reliving another era.
These Indians and other reenactors prepare to entertain the crowds at "Christmas at the Fort." There are also other events held at Ft. Parker each year. One of the favorite events is the trail ride. (see Calendar of Events)
